Opportunity Overview
As a Senior Medical Communications Writer, you will be responsible for researching, writing, and editing publications based on Rhythm’s R&D and therapeutic areas. This position will also provide medical writing support for associated materials to the Global Medical Affairs Medical Communications and Information functions.

Our lead asset, IMCIVREE® (setmelanotide), is a precision medicine designed to treat hyperphagia, an insatiable, pathological hunger characterized by abnormal food-seeking behaviors, and early- or rapid-onset severe obesity caused by an impairment of a pathway in the hypothalamus called the melanocortin-4 receptor (MC4R) pathway. IMCIVREE® is the first and only approved therapy for certain rare MC4R pathway diseases in the United States, Europe, Great Britain and several other countries. In collaboration with leading experts across the world, Rhythm is advancing the most comprehensive clinical research program ever initiated in MC4R pathway diseases, including a Phase 3 trial for acquired hypothalamic obesity. In addition, we are leveraging our extensive genetic database, global network of researchers, a track record of regulatory successes and global commercial infrastructure to develop a full portfolio of treatment options to patients struggling with hyperphagia and severe obesity and ensuring they get the treatment that is right for them.

As a Senior Medical Communications Writer, you will be responsible for researching, writing, and editing publications based on Rhythm’s R&D and therapeutic areas. This position will also provide medical writing support for associated materials to the Global Medical Affairs Medical Communications and Information functions
Responsibilities and Duties
- Perform literature reviews and solicit input from medical, statistical and operational resources as necessary to support data analysis and document content.
- Assist with review of data to ensure cleanliness/appropriateness for analysis, hypothesis testing, QA of statistical output, and data compilation to support data summaries/presentations.
- Writing scientific publications (papers for peer-reviewed medical journals, abstracts, posters, and slide presentations.
- Other writing responsibilities include internal educational scientific slide kits, conference reports, and field medical training materials.
Qualifications and Skills
- Proven medical writing skills (particularly experience with developing scientific peer reviewed publications)
- Expert knowledge of document content preparation, including the use of style guides, medical dictionaries, and online medical writing resources.
- Edits to achieve consistency with scientific communication platform, uses precise accurate language and grammar and has a high attention to detail.
- Ability to interpret and summarize complex tabular and graphical data sets.
- Comfortable working with co-authors (both external and internal), with the ability to collaborate in a matrixed environment using exceptional written and verbal communication skills. Independently resolves document content issues and addresses questions by resolving discrepancies.
- Strong organizational skills (Advanced project management and organizational skills). Ability to work independently, prioritize, and multitask to meet timelines under changing conditions.
- Strong analytical mind with the proven ability to analyze, interpret, and summarize complex data.
- Advanced understanding of drug development, clinical research, study designs, biostatistics, pharmacology, and medical terminology.
- Advanced degree (RN, PA, MS, MPH, PhD, or PharmD) or equivalent in a scientific or health care field required.
- Medical writing experience authoring scientific publication and presentations.
- Preferred 3-5 years medical communication/publication writing experience.
- Experience in obesity or rare diseases preferable.
- CMPP certification preferred.
