Opportunity Overview
The Director of Benefits leads the strategy, design, and administration of the company’s global benefits programs, ensuring they are competitive, compliant, cost-effective, and aligned with the broader Total Rewards philosophy. This role partners closely with HR, Finance, Legal, and business leadership to deliver scalable, high-impact programs that support a growing and geographically diverse workforce. The Director of Benefits is responsible for driving continuous improvement across benefit offerings, vendor relationships, and operational processes, while delivering a seamless, high-quality employee experience and clear, engaging communication at every stage of the employee lifecycle.

This role is based out of our corporate office in Boston, Massachusetts. Rhythm operates in a hybrid-work model. Candidates applying must be willing and able to be in the Boston office in coordination with their department and business needs. This role may involve some travel.
The expected salary range for this position is $182,000 - $275,000. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, level, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and company performance. This role may be eligible for benefits and other compensation such as restricted stock units.

Responsibilities and Duties
- Lead the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of an organizationally aligned benefits strategy that supports business growth, talent attraction, and retention
- Oversee end-to-end global benefits programs (health, wellness, retirement, leave, insurance), ensuring scalability across regions
- Partner with the Exec Director, International HRBP on the design, implementation, and administration, for benefits programs across our international region
- Partner with HR, Finance, and leadership to align benefits strategy with workforce and organizational priorities
- Drive continuous improvement and innovation, leveraging market benchmarking and employee insights to evolve offerings
- Oversee delivery of responsive, high-quality employee support for benefits inquiries and complex cases
- Develop and execute clear, engaging communications and education strategies to improve benefit utilization and understanding
- Ensure compliance with ERISA, ACA, COBRA, HIPAA and applicable regulations
- Lead annual renewals and negotiations, vendor relationships, and RFPs, balancing cost management with competitive program design
- Partner cross-functionally with HR, Finance, Legal, Procurement, IT, and regional teams to ensure compliance, financial discipline, and seamless program delivery across geographies
- Partner with People Ops to ensure seamless administration and service delivery across the employee lifecycle
Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business, or related field
- 10+ years of progressive benefits experience with at least 5+ years in the Biopharmaceutical industry
- Deep knowledge of U.S. benefits regulations
- Experience managing global benefits programs
- Strong financial and analytical skills
- Experience with HRIS systems such as ADP
