Opportunity Overview
Rhythm seeks an experienced and highly motivated mid-level attorney with a strong life sciences background and proven experience in contract drafting and negotiation to join its Legal & Compliance Department. This position will report to the Head of Legal of Rhythm’s International business based in the UK.

The successful candidate will partner closely with cross-functional teams including commercial, medical, clinical, R&D, manufacturing and procurement, providing strategic legal guidance across a broad range of initiatives. Asa key member of an agile legal team, you will play a critical role in enabling business success while ensuring compliance and managing risk.

Responsibilities and Duties
  • Draft, review, and negotiate research-related contracts, clinical trial agreements, commercial contracts, 3rd party vendor agreements, service agreements, consulting agreements and other corporate agreements.
  • Advise business leaders on strategies and tactics in a way that advances the company's business while addressing legal risks and protecting the company's integrity and reputation.
  • Proactively identify legal and compliance risks and work with other internal stakeholders to effectively eliminate or mitigate those risks while concurrently supporting business strategic goals.
  • Advise on other legal matters that arise across various functions within the company.
  • Manage outside counsel as needed to support the execution of key legal responsibilities and duties.
  • Contribute to other projects and areas, which may include research and development, clinical trials, manufacturing or commercial and medical matters, as determined in consultation with other members of the Legal & Compliance team.
  • Assist in developing, implementing, and enhancing the company’s compliance function, including establishing policies and procedures.
  • Partner with Legal & Compliance colleagues to ensure consistency in approach across the global organization.
  • Developing and providing appropriate training.
  • Review and provide legal guidance on interactions with healthcare professionals, patients, payers, and advocacy groups to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Provide advice and counsel to clients on applicable regulations and local country requirements with respect to product labeling, promotional activities and marketing strategies.
  • Providing legal advice and guidance on data privacy laws, regulations, best practices and participation in strategic planning and decision-making processes related to data privacy.
  • Review and provide guidance on promotional materials through Rhythm's Promotional Review Committee. 
  • Review, analyze, and advise on matters related to reimbursement activities, market access, patient support and assistance programs, government coding and reimbursement, payment and coverage decisions.

Qualifications and Skills
  • Law degree and current admission to the bar.
  • Licensed to practice law in an European jurisdiction.
  • Upwards of 5 years of experience in a law firm, biotech/pharma company, or government agency practicing law, or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Broad understanding of the life sciences industry and the types of contracts and issues that arise withing research and development, clinical trials, manufacturing and commercialization of pharmaceutical products, including a familiarity with rules and regulations related to pharmaceutical products.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with strong ability to communicate across various functions.
  • Highly collaborative, with excellent judgment and interpersonal skills.
  • Expert ability to constructively counsel and influence clients to take appropriate actions and make complex decisions.
  • Capacity to simultaneously handle a variety of complex legal matters with minimal guidance.
  • Demonstrable experience taking ownership of issues and providing timely, actionable advice.
  • Exceptional written, organization, and presentation skills.
  • Fluent in speaking and writing in English.
